Study of changed refractive error after LASIK and M-LASEK

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to survey on changes of spherical equivalent and astigmatism by LASIK and M-LASEK.
Methods : 36 patients(72 eyes) who were operated LASIK and M-LASEK from October 2007 to May 2008 enrolled in this study. I surveyed changes of spherical equivalent and astigmatism for 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after operation.
Results : There were no statistic different changes of spherical equivalent between LASIK and M-LASEK after 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months of operation. And, there were no statistic different changes of astigmatism in LASIK and M-LASEK after 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months of operation. However, between LASIK and M-LASEK, there was significant difference in M-LASEK(p = 0.01) after 1 month, while there were no significant differences after 3 months and 6 months.
Conclusion : For LASIK and M-LASEK, there were no significant differences for change of spherical equivalent(p > 0.05), but there was significant difference for change of astigmatism after 1 month(p < 0.05) only. It is considered that LASIK and M-LASEK have similar effects for refractive correction.
